Hunter Douglas’s range of sun control Sliding Louvre Shutters are both highly functional and attractive as a dynamic facade element. The louvres are produced in either aluminium or wood and then placed into an aluminium frame. They have a clean and crisp appearance and can provide full shading while still allowing an excellent view outside.
Why Louvre Shutters?
Sliding Shutters offer a perfect solution for regulating light and heat whilst at the same time creating an architectural element to the facade that is striking in appearance. The specification of sliding louvre shutters provides the required shading and allows an open view onto the street outside. A wide choice of louvre shapes and finishes enables the designer to further enhance the external appearance of the building’s façade.

Design & Inspiration
Sliding shutters offer a unique way to give a distinctive appearance to a facade. Moving individually or as a group they continuously transform the facade while still providing a uniform and consistent design to the envelope. With a wide range of materials and finishes available, the architect has added freedom to find a solution that fits the required style and atmosphere of the building.
Colours & Finishes
All aluminium profiles used in the Sliding Shutter system can be anodised in a natural silver colour or a range of alternative colours and shades. Anodisation is an electrolytic process that turns the top layer of the aluminium into a strong protective surface that is resistant to all conditions. For an even wider choice of colours and designs the shutters can be powder coated in a wide range of RAL colours or to a specific colour requirement. Hunter Douglas also offers the highest standard of sublimation finishes, providing the high protection of a durable powder coated finish with the superb look of wood and patinised metal designs. As for the real wood fins: Western Red Cedar can be used without finish in outside conditions, resulting in a beautiful silver grey tone that will retain it’s look for many years without maintenance. Alternatively the wood fins can be provided with a transparent nano coating that with regular maintenance will preserve the original red brown appearance.

Health and wellbeing
The Hunter Douglas Architectural range of ceiling products contribute to sustainable buildings through aesthetic solutions that enhance comfort and save energy. Promoting the health and well being of their occupants is arguably the most important function of building. Our shading solutions promote the use of healthy daylight without the hindrances of glare and thermal discomfort. Our acoustic ceilings are a key element in the provision of acoustic comfort.
Environmentally sound materials are the key to a sustainable building. Our strategy is to pick materials that have good environmental properties to start with. Many of our products are made of aluminum produced in our own smelters. We have optimised our processes to use up to 99% of recycled content to produce the right alloy for our products. Our wood is FSC certified and we embrace the Cradle to Cradle principle in our product development.
Reducing the energy use of the total building stock is key to the prevention of global warming. Most modern office buildings use more energy for cooling than heating. Effective management of the solar energy that passes through the transparent part of the façade is a key strategy in the prevention of overheating in both old and new buildings. Our high performance shading solutions bring substantial energy savings, while at the same time promoting health and wellbeing.
