James Cook University and CSIRO - Australian Tropical Science and Innovation Precinct (ATSIP) is a new research facility located in Townsville, Australia. Designed by Conrad Garrett Architecture, the building features durable Hunter Douglas Commercial Multipanel 200F/C Facade System in zinc/aluminum coated steel. Pre-finished in a range of earthy colors - Homestead, Brick Dust and Desert Sand - the building's facade mimics the surrounding bush landscape.
A combination of the two profile sections: "F" and "C" were used to provide varied design options for a fine line closed joint and an expressed recessed joint, respectively. To provide protection against the sun's exposure, the highly UV-resistant PVF2 finish (using the exclusive HD COLOR-COTE® Coating Process) was used to maximize the durability of the product and maintain the color intensity.
Additional testing for higher wind loads on the Hunter Douglas Commercial Multipanel 200F/C Facade System was required due to the project being situated in a cyclone area.
