The miffy museum in Utrecht has reopened its doors after an extensive renovation and extension, nearly doubling its size to accommodate its growing audience. Designed by renowned architectural firm Soda, the revamped museum now spans 1,500 m² and features new facilities such as a museum café and themed areas, alongside fully renovated existing spaces to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all visitors.

Natural solution
Hunter Douglas Architectural contributed to this transformation by supplying a custom Derako® Solid Wood Linear system in red oak, seamlessly integrated across 463 m² of ceilings and 215 m² of walls. This warm, natural solution complements the museum’s playful yet modern aesthetic, enhancing the visitor experience while meeting the high standards of both architects and clients. The result is a harmonious blend of functionality and beauty, celebrating the museum’s cultural significance while preparing it to welcome up to 205,000 annual visitors.
