HeartFelt® provides optimal acoustic comfort in the indoor swimming pool in Schwabmünchen

The new “Leonhard-Wagner-Welle” swimming facility in Schwabmünchen, Germany, officially opened in January 2026. Located opposite the Leonhard-Wagner schools, the facility serves both educational purposes and the wider community. It provides approximately 3,200 students with direct access to swimming lessons while also supporting local sports clubs and promoting healthy activity for residents.

Architecture defined by continuity and flow

Designed by Studio Gollwitzer Architekten GmbH, the building integrates seamlessly into the surrounding sports complex. The architectural concept is based on a transition from a strict, linear grid to a softer, curved geometry. This approach continues into the interior, where the ceiling plays a central role in shaping spatial perception, creating rhythm, depth, and a strong visual connection throughout the building.

Acoustic performance meets architectural expression

A defining element of the project is the installation of approximately 1,300 m² of the HeartFelt® Linear ceiling system by Hunter Douglas Architectural. Installed in a 7575 cream tone with 55 mm lamellae at a 70 mm module, the system meets the demanding acoustic requirements of a swimming pool environment. It effectively reduces sound reverberation caused by hard surfaces, while introducing a warm and refined aesthetic.

Flexibility, functionality, and sustainability

The flexibility of the HeartFelt® system enabled the precise realisation of the curved ceiling design, supporting the architect’s vision. At the same time, its modular construction ensures ease of installation, accessibility, and long-term adaptability. Made from felt, the system contributes to both acoustic comfort and sustainability, offering a high-performance solution that combines technical reliability with architectural quality.
