The OM building, a benchmark in sustainability and energy efficiency

The OM Building in Madrid has won the renowned AEO award for Best New Office Building. This project, in which Hunter Douglas has collaborated through its acoustic systems and innovative design, has also obtained LEED Platinum and WELL Platinum certifications, as well as the AEO A+ distinction, as it is distinguished by its avant-garde design and its commitment to sustainability.

Situated in the MADBIT district, where the best digital infrastructure is located, the environment offers the building’s workers a wide variety of services, parks and excellent transport connections. The building has a floor area of 76,000m2 distributed over five floors above ground and three below ground, and stands out for its design that improves the flow of people by implementing escalators on all floors. The ground floor, with a large glazed atrium, offers a variety of amenities for tenants, including a gymnasium, athletics track, landscaped areas, meeting rooms and rest and reading areas.

Above all, the most remarkable feature of the OM Building is its design and approach to the adoption of renewable energy, using geothermal, photovoltaic, solar thermal, biomass and wind energy to supply its own energy demand. Its active façade with high thermal and acoustic insulation, together with advanced solar control systems and chilled beam air conditioning, demonstrate a commitment to energy efficiency and the well-being of its occupants throughout the planning and executive process.

“The recognition with the AEO award and the LEED and WELL certifications reflect Torre Rioja’s commitment to excellence in design, sustainability and wellness. We are delighted to have contributed to this exceptional project,” said Francisco Dominguez of Hunter Douglas.
